Getting There
Visit our York page for information about getting to York and the Racecourse venue where the book festival takes place.
Door Policy
The book festival is not (and never has been) a women-only event. The audience is 99% female - lesbian, bi and straight - but men are welcome as guests of women (or by writing to the organisers before booking).
Transsexual and intersex people are welcome. See the full policy on 'lesbian space'. The book festival is not suitable for children.
Access is very good and an access team is on hand. There is full wheelchair access at the racecourse. Infra-red hearing system. BSL (Britsh sign language) interpreters at some sessions. If you or anyone in your party are deaf or disabled, please fill in an access questionnaire when booking, so we can plan for everyone's needs. This includes those who will be using the infra-red system or need a disabled parking space... whatever you need, we want to plan in advance for it to make sure your day goes smoothly.
